Day 15 Juicing Celery And Loving It?
Hi, Tim here with my quick day 15 update.
It is only going to be a quick one today because I have got a busy day planned doing lots of things.
Just to let you know that I have lost a huge amount of weight! You are not going to believe just how much weight I have lost. Are you ready for it?
Point one of a kilogram, which is about 1/5 of the pound!
That's right, I am just nudging over the scale but I thought I wasn't going to make it. I thought this was going to be the first day that there was going to be no weight loss. And I am obviously hoping that that is not going to happen in the 56 days. But I did manage to lose point one of a kilo. And I think it was only picked up because the Wii Fit Plus has obviously got a fairly accurate scale. If I had put it on normal scales it probably would not have registered a change.
But, with that said, I am still feeling happy. I still have lots of energy. Still feeling good. And I'm certainly not going to let that dampen my spirits at all. I'm going to be rocking on.
All up I have lost 8.4 kg now which is about 18.5 pounds which is still pretty good.
So am I sitting here juicing celery? Ah, no, I'm not actually. I still can't get into celery. I know that people are telling me that there are lots of good benefits to celery but I just can't get into it at this stage. So I am probably going to try it. There is going to be a period of time where I'm going to try it. Well, I have tried it, I tried it early on but I just wasn't fully into it.
So I'm still feeling good. I'm still feeling happy and still feeling quite under control. I am not feeling like there's any need to be worried about trusting myself in front of food. Louise was making herself a tea last night. She very rarely drinks a cup of tea. She might have one or two a month. And she got the biscuits out.
And I said Oh, bring them over here. I wanted to test myself! And I purposefully had a smell of the biscuits, and… Nothing! There was no, Oh, I have got to have one of those. There was just nothing there. And I just feel fantastic about that, because my biggest problem in the past I think has been that, just getting a smell of something, "nice food" (which isn't actually nice), you know, like a biscuit, or a piece of pie or something that I just actually want some. But now I just got nothing last night with those biscuits at all which I think is fantastic!
A few questions for people who are interested in answering: I am looking for the best detox juices. As far as I know the best juice cleanse probably involves lemon and grapefruit. I am assuming that lemon and grapefruit are obviously, and lime for that matter, are very good from a detox point of view as well. But if anyone else has got any information on that.
I am cutting back a little bit on my lemon. I actually have found, and I think I talked about this in earlier videos, that lemon was really, really strong and I am cutting down on it. Well I had a discussion with my brother yesterday, he did the juice fasting plan for a few days but he hasn't got anywhere near the amount of weight loss that I've got to lose. So it's not really an issue for him.
And he mentioned that you shouldn't be, well you should be, when they, a recipe talks about using half a lemon, they aren't talking about the skin as well. Well I have always thrown in the skin as well. So consequently when I'm tasting it, it is far far far more lemony bitter then I would think is nice basically. So what he does is when he sees half a lemon, he doesn't include the skin. So I think that's going to make a huge difference and I'm going to try that with my lunch and evening juices just to see what it's like. Putting in a lot more lemon but without the skin and I will let you know how that goes tomorrow.
I don't think there's a lot else to report. I did my exercise today. I actually managed to walk further. I can actually tell you how far I walked. I'll get the trusty iPhone out. And I will put the stats up. I haven't got the stats in front of me as to how much this will be in miles but I'll put that on the video, once I edit it.
I actually walked for over one hour and one-minute, and did 5.6 km. So that's an average speed of 5.4 km. You can see the miles on the screen there now (3.5 miles). That's pretty good and I felt that I was walking a lot faster. The last couple of days I felt that I wanted to pick up the speed and I actually did a bit of jogging as well, believe it or not. So I did three or four stages in that hour of just probably only a minute tops of a jog. But it felt good. It felt good. I'm really starting to want to wind it up and go on a little bit faster. So this is all the juices kicking in there and helping me. So I think it's fantastic.

Day 16 - An Update On My Journey
Juice Fast Plan Update For Day 16
Hello Tim here with my day 16 update.
Yes, I am still on my juice fast plan. Juicing vegetables and having a good time on this juice diet. Whoops, it's not a juice diet, it's actually a juice plan. I don't like using the word diet because I've got negative perceptions – to me, dieting is a negative thing. I guess because I have been on multiple diets, many diets over the years and failed. I don't want this to be at diet. So I am calling this my juice fast plan. And so far it is working quite well.
Overnight, or since the last time I weighed yesterday, I have lost .5 of a kilo, which is about 1.1 pounds. And overall now that is 8.9 kg, which is just under 20 pounds, about 19.6 pounds that I have lost since starting this.
And incidentally my original goal was to lose 32 kg which is around 70 pounds. And so I have still got just over 23 kg to go, which is about 51 pounds. So over all I would have to say I am pretty pleased with the way things are going. As you know, the weight is coming off. I would like it perhaps to be coming off a bit faster, but yesterday I think was the smallest ever weight loss. It was only point one of a kilo, which is about 1/5 of one pound. Very small amount of weight loss. But it was still weight loss.
So today it is kicking back in at half a kilogram off, so 1.1 pounds. I am happy with that. So I will just keep working away and see how I go. This process of juicing is not particularly hard. You don't need any sort of high industrial strength juice or anything like that. A basic juicer that you can get from your supermarket is all you will actually need. I use the Breville Fountain. I think it's called the Fountain Plus in America. It is a very basic juicer. And what I am doing is just vegetables and fruits.
I am trying to mix them up. In the morning I tend to have the fruit only. So I will stick to something like, I like multiple combinations, so I will have: grapefruit; I will also have watermelon; rockmelon; apples; a few strawberries. I think that's about it. And that tastes very nice. Occasionally I will have some pear as well. That all mixed up together is very nice. I would normally have that for breakfast and sometimes I will have that for lunch as well, or I will try and add some vegetables to it.
So the vegetables that I have: this would be traditionally spinach, broccoli and sometimes beans, although I am finding beans, even though they are high in protein which is the reason that I have selected them, they don't tend to juice very well, in terms of... there's not a lot of juice, there's not much return on the amount you put in. So I find that you put the beans in and you only get a small amount of juice. So they are the two vegetables that I stick to, and also carrot.
So my midday meal, my juice fast drink, is not anywhere near as much variety of fruits. I tend to obviously go for the apples still, and try and do a lemony type taste, (or grapefruit), which will get rid of that taste of the vegetables that I don't like. And that seems to work quite well..
And then in the evening I try and do mostly vegetables. Just a little bit. You know a few basics, definitely apples and some lemon and grapefruit just to defuse that taste little bit.
And in terms of what I am drinking it's only three times a day. I find that I don't need to drink any more. There's lots of research will suggest that you need to drink a lot more than that. But I'm finding now that I am getting into a bit of a ritual here, that three a day is comfortable. The first at breakfast I often don't have that until 9:00 or 9:30 in the morning because by the time I've gone for a walk and then had a shower and so forth, time has kicked on and I am not feeling the hunger.
Then again I never felt hungry generally. That's a pretty common symptom if you are overweight. I am sure if you haven't started a juice fast and you are looking to do this and you are overweight you are probably not that hungry at breakfast time. That the majority of the research that I have found suggests that that is the case.
My biggest danger period was the mid afternoon, mid to late afternoon, evening that this that's when I would binge too much and eat too much of the junk food..
So anyway I am not that hungry at breakfast. So by lunchtime I am still not particularly hungry. I am not feeling that hunger. And it gets sometimes to 1:00 or 1:30 and I think okay I could have something to drink. I could have something to fill the stomach a little bit but I'm not particularly that fussed. So I will have a normal juice then.
Incidentally, I am drinking water throughout that period of time. I am drinking quite a lot of water. But nothing else. I know some people are talking about drinking green tea. Green tea has got caffeine, so I don't suggest you do that. That's my personal suggestion.
Obviously you need to research this yourself and come up with that decision. I have really gone cold turkey in the sense that I have gone off everything other than the juice and water. That's the only two things that I am drinking at the moment. No coffee, no milk anything like that. Although you could probably get away with it, to me is that is a little bit – if I'm going to go this radical, I may as well go the whole way and actually do it properly and get the maximum results. That's the way that I look at it.
So anyway. By 1:30 sometimes I am still not particularly hungry. But I will have my juice and I will feel quite full after that. And then at 6:30, sometimes even 7:00 I will have my juice in the evenings.
Very interesting about the hunger. It is a different type of hunger altogether. What I think it is is that cravings versus hunger. I definitely haven't got cravings for any type of food any more at all. The only thing I get now is just a "yes, you are hungry now, have something" as opposed to those really strong cravings that you have for junk food. It just goes to show you how much crap is in these junk foods for them to have that sort of pull over you. All the sugar and processed fats and processed whether, whatever else they are putting in these foods, are really quite unhealthy and just the fact that I have been off those for that period of time and that I have lost all those cravings. So it is a wonderful feeling.
And even after going from 6::30 in the evening until 9:30 the following morning before I've eaten. That's a long, long time for a fast in terms of breakfast – break fast. And I am still not particularly hungry. So is really quite interesting.
I think what is going to happen is over time, as time goes on, I am going to find that I'm going to be more hungry in the morning. Because that is the natural state. For example my nephew is five years old, a bit of a tearaway, and runs around and tears up the house when he is here (he does stay with us every now and again). One thing I have noticed, very interesting. And this is something you can do if you've got young children around: just assess how they get hungry. And in the morning, for example as soon as he gets up, in 10 min, he is hungry. He wants to eat something.
I think that is the norm, generally speaking, because you have gone all that period of time without anything, you need some food and your body should be telling you to eat up. So the fact that I'm not getting those signals yet tells me again that I need to keep going through this process. Because I haven't been totally flushed out and so forth. So actually I hope I am going to be waking up hungry because that is a good indication, or getting hungry soon after waking up, that would be a good indication that I am back on track in terms of my body, that my body has really sorted itself out from that hunger point of view.
So I really think that my addictions, largely, at this stage are cured! I know that's pretty early to be saying that only on day 16, but I don't think I have ever felt so in control of my appetite and my hunger and my cravings as any time in the last 30 years that I have been overweight. So I'm going to keep at it. Even though sometimes it is a trouble to think wow, I have got 40 days before this juice fast is finished, finishes. The fact that I have made so much progress... nearly 9 kg, nearly 20 pounds in the first 16 days. That is very inspiring to myself to keep going..
Now your comments and suggestions and hints and tricks are also really, really – I love them, thank you, I really appreciate them is what I am trying to say. Please do take the time to leave any comments, and questions, criticisms anything along those lines. Because that helps me function and really helps me want to power through.
One of the reasons that I did this actually, the videos every day, was that I wanted to hold myself accountable, so that there wasn't any way that I could back out. So the more people that I am interacting with every day, by entering your comments, and replying etc, the less likely it is that I'm going to quit.
And I would like to think that there are people there who are starting this, perhaps only just started this juice fast, or you are thinking of doing it. I'm hoping that the videos that I am putting out each day are going to be inspiring for you, so that when you decide to make the decision to do this, if you do decide to, you can see that here is someone who has sort of, the whole step along the way, the whole process along the way, how he's feeling each day, what was happening, how much weight he lost, so that you can get an idea what sort of results you're going to get. and also you are going to know how you are going to feel uncertain days, and any roadblocks and how to get around them and so forth. So that is what I am doing them for.
So please keep those comments coming. I notice they are starting to build up now. I have got a small stream of people who are looking and I obviously want to expand that. I want hundreds of thousands of people to be following this! Let's get the message out there that juice fast can actually be the final 'diet' (I am using a bad word, but...) final way for you to get down to your goal weight. You won't have to go anywhere else. You won't have to do any other diet plan or anything. This is a totally natural way for you to heal your body. And it is a fantastic feeling and I want lots of people to know about it! Day 17 - Juice Fast Progress And Your Questions Answered
Hello, it's Tim here with my Day 17 update.
I am still on my juice fast and I have lost point one of the kilogram, which is only 1/5 of one pound. That brings my total weight loss so far to 9 kg which is just a fraction under 20 pounds.
So, still going quite good, and all on track.
What I wanted to do in today's video is just talk about, a little bit about juice fasting in general, because it seems from the comments that I am reading in my previous videos, there is a bit of misunderstanding on what juice fasting is.
I will start off by saying that juice fasting is actually something that has been done by people, you know, various religions and so forth, for thousands of years.
So this is not a new, 2011 type scenario. It is something that has been done for thousands of years. And it is actually healthy for you. Now some people leaving comments are suggesting that there are healthier options. If you take a step back and think about it, is there actually a healthier option then for you to consume 100% natural fruit and vegetables? And no preservatives, no chemicals, and goodness knows what else that companies are putting into our foods these days. You are avoiding all of that, and the reality is that people are actually getting cured from medical problems and complaints just by juice fasting. So please don't think that this is unhealthy or be worried about me being unhealthy and not doing things the right way.
There is an argument to say that it is extreme. Yes, it is certainly extreme. I'm quite happy to say that, yes it is very, very extreme and perhaps it is not for everyone. Certainly the 56 days is not for everyone. But, you know, even the short term past, half a day or the day, one or two days, what I am saying is one meal a day consuming juice could start actually helping you.
As I have said there is lots and lots of benefits to juice fasting. And it will actually help you to get healthier. There are people who have actually had medical conditions and they go right through and at the end of their juice fast their medical condition has been cured by the body. Because the body has got a natural inbuilt power to heal. So the fact that you are giving yourself fruit and vegetables is you are giving your body every chance it has to work on healing you and fixing any conditions you have got.
So if you're talking diabetes, all sorts of problems along those lines, that people as a byproduct to juice fast – they are actually getting healed by that.
So you might be asking why are they getting healed? Well, the main reason is that you are giving your body fantastic nutrients. All the nutrients it needs, if you are having the right mix of fruit and vegetables, and because it is in the juice form the body doesn't have to expend a lot of energy digesting it.
Because one of the areas that your body does invest a lot of energy in doing is digesting your food. Particularly processed foods, unhealthy foods, fast food, those types of foods. But even things like a piece of steak take hours for a body to go through and digest and that takes energy. So your body is actively working on that. And if you think about that alone, just the fact that you are going to be on the juice fast is going to help your energy.
But the other thing of course in lots of food these days it's becoming increasingly proven that there are lots of toxins. For example in some of the processed foods that you can buy in some of the oils and so forth trans fats and so forth are very, very unhealthy and not really good for your body.
Now what does your body do if it can't get rid of those toxins?
It actually wrapped up in layers of fat. So when you are overweight you have actually got a massive amount of toxins in your body that your body is protecting, so that is not doing you any dramatic and injury or dramatic harm to you by wrapping it up in that. So, as you are losing your weight (any form of weight loss not just juice fasting, but in particular I am talking about juice fasting) you are getting rid of all these toxins.
Now by getting rid of all these toxins your body is then freed up. It doesn't have to work on getting rid of these toxins and digesting lots of really bad food for you and trying to deal with all this stuff, all this damage that you are basically causing your body by keeping these types of foods. It is just getting nutrition in a juice format which is ready to be immediately – there is still some digestion that is involved, but it's very minor compared to fast food or a piece of steak or something of that nature. So because of that, the actual nutrition gets into your bloodstream quicker and then your body is freed up. It has got other things to do it can use its time and energy in other areas. For example getting rid of the toxins and so forth.
And over time that is what you are doing. Not only are you losing weight. Losing weight is just one benefit, one side-effect if you will, from the whole process. But you are actually detoxifying your whole body. You are splashing out all the toxins and all the bad stuff making you healthier and at that point of course you are going to be healthier as well.
To give you an example, I am an asthmatic. And when I started this on day one I had a little Ventolin spray – I will show you what I am talking about – I have got one of these things, which are probably seen before and I also use one of these. This is a Ventolin or Asmol is called. And this one is Flixotide.
Now, what they are is they are basically drugs for asthma. And since starting this, since about day eight, I haven't had to use those any more. Prior to that I would not say that I was using it every day but I was a regular user of those drugs. Now what I used to do was when I felt like I had asthma I actually had to take it. I actually had that and then I felt better. My lungs weren't were restricted and I had to do it. But since about day eight I haven't had to have that virtually at all. And the reason is, yes some of that has got to do with the weight loss, but I am putting less stress on my body. There is less stress on my body now because there's less weight. There's less wasted energy in looking after trying to process all this unhealthy food.
And because I am just eating raw fruits and vegetable juice, which is extremely healthy, the body has just got more time to deal with other things, and you can start healing. And so consequently my asthma is going. So it's only on day 17 and I am already feeling a lot better from an asthma point of view, let alone the other facts that I have got a lot more energy and I'm feeling better about life. So these are the benefits the juice fasting can give you.
But look don't just believe me, do the research for yourself, and you will find that there are tons of people who actually agree. And there is lots of evidence that you can find yourself of people who have been through this. I am certainly not the first person to do this. And people have completely cured problems with their bodies. Just by juice fast.
Now you don't get all these benefits by doing a traditional weight loss.
Another question I saw there was people suggesting that a better way to lose weight might be just to keep good for five or six days, then on the seventh day eat what you like.
Now, I used to be a big believer in that. I used to be a believer that you could sort of get away with that. And, yes I was overweight, and I stayed overweight for the whole time because that was my belief. I'm changing my thought patterns now and I am starting to think that, no, that is not possible. Because the food that you like, I am assuming from the comments, from that comment, that he's talking about junk foods. You know KFC or McDonald's or those types of foods that are unhealthy for you. The foods that you like have got toxins for you and are unhealthy for you. So yes one day a week you could be doing that. But let's take a step back here do you really want to be doing that? Do you really want to be putting unhealthy food in your body. I think it's time for us all to really take a step back and really just have a look at the food that we're putting into our body.
I am certainly doing this and I am thinking well look I don't want to go back on these habits. I don't want to go on this juice fast and then at the end 56 days just decide well I'm going to go back to where I was before and then maybe in a year or two years I will have gained all the weight again. This is a life change. And I think this is what people have to realise now. If they really want to take yourself to the next level and say look I am sick of how I am. Now if you're overweight like I was I decided that I had had enough. I didn't want to be the person I was any more, in terms of my weight. I was unhappy. I had tried lots of diets in the past and they hadn't worked
Yes, I will admit, I had an addiction to lots of different types of foods. So the ice creams, the chocolates, the other types of fast food that I have mentioned before. But that's a bad thing. So I think it is a fact now that we have to start saying I'm not going to go back to my old habits. And to juice fast of course is a great way of doing that. Because you are totally eliminating that from your body for a period of time. So, in my opinion, if you are looking to diet, and look, you can get some good results. I have lost weight before. But invariably I have gained it again. Or I have reached a point where I don't think to be able to lose any more.
And that the old traditional diets where basically I've gone through and just tried to diet for a period of time, or tried to keep some of the foods that I like, again, that I "like" – in other words that I have got used to, food that I am addicted to, but not food that's good for you. So I have tried to keep those in my diet and over time I can do it for a period of time. But what invariably happens is it's like a slingshot. You know, slingshot effect. You can do it for the period of time, but eventually you have to let go of the rubber, and then and you are back to where you were before. And your weight has gone up.
The reason that people are gaining weight these days to a large degree is not as simple as calories in and calories out. Its the type of food that you are eating.
And the fact is, in today's modern society a lot of foods that we are eating are processed. It has got all sorts of things that we know, and even more stuff that we don't know that is bad for us that is in there, because companies are not interested in our health. They are interested in, basically, you coming back again and eating more of their stuff and buying more of their products. So do you think if they could find something that would make the food more addictive, they would put it in their products? Of course they would! And of course they do!
Now the reality is with these companies they are there to make a profit. They don't care about your health. There's no one out there that to a large degree – I am really getting fired up here, because I really want to get the message out.
What I am trying to say is that there's not a lot of people out there who are worried about your health. You need to take control of it. And I think the only way to do that is to go cold turkey.
Yes, it probably the hardest way to do it, but if you really want to get rid of your addictions once and for all and you really want to lose this weight you really need to take ownership of this problem and say look this is my problem. It's not my doctor's problem. It is not anyone else's problem. I have actually got this to solve this.
And that's why I have done this juice fast. Because literally detoxifying my whole body, getting rid of all my addictions. I have talked about this and previous days now I haven't got any feelings of addiction to these other types of food. And at this stage I have actually had chocolate put in front of me. I have actually tried myself. I have looked at biscuits. I have talked about that in a previous video.
Biscuits were something that I used to love with coffee. I had those put there in front of me and I had no inclination whatsoever to eat them. The fact is, I am removing that by this juice fast. And you just don't get those benefits in virtually any other form of diet.
And again, as I said earlier in this video, the juice fasting process has been around for thousands of years. It is something that has worked for thousands of years. And don't just think about it for weight loss. Think about it from the health benefits.

The other question I had was people were wondering, How do I get started? What I suggest you do is go to amazon.com and I'm going to put the link below the video in YouTube. So click on the information button and there will be a link there and it will take you straight to this book. Juice Fasting & Detoxification, by Stephen Meyerowitz.
Now, look there are a ton of different books on juice fasting and detoxification. This is a good one because it goes through the basics. It is only, it is under 200 pages, it is about 150 pages. Go to the link anyway. And when you go to Amazon and have a look at it you will find that there are a lot of other books that they also recommend. Read the reviews of the products. I always suggest you do that anyway. When you are buying a product, have a look at what other people have said about it.
But that book I have actually read, Juice Fasting & Detoxification, and it actually is a very good book. Have a read of it yourself, because it goes through the different types of fastings. Because, again, you don't have to go to the step that I am going, a very radical step that I am going. There are different ways that you can go into it. You can do it is like three or four days. You will get a benefit no matter how long you go with it.
The other thing I need to point out here though is you do need to get your doctors okay on this. You need to have a consult with your doctor and for them to be clear that what you're doing, you are understanding what you are doing. So that they are actually okay with the process as well.
Don't think that you can do this on your own. You need to at least get your GP on this, your general practitioner involved, so that they are aware of what you are doing. You are changing your life for the better, there are no doubts about it. And it does take some commitment. Particularly early on. Particularly early on in the first few days it is quite hard. I am not going to tell you it's a dream. It is not. And you will actually feel worse. So, believe it or not, when you start the juice fasting you will actually feel worse. Why? Because during those first few days a lot of the dramatic amount of toxins that are sitting there that haven't been fully processed and absorbed properly by the body are actually coming out. So they are actually coming straight back out. And they come back out of your body. They have to be processed in some way by your body. So you are feeling the effects of this. And so you will be getting headaches, you might be feeling a bit sick, you might be feeling tired, so again, think about that when you are starting your juice fast, Maybe I should be doing this on a weekend.
The types of juices you have also is very important.
But have a look at that Juice Fasting & Detoxification book. That's a great way to get started. Day 18 My Detox Update
Detox Diet Plan Update For Day 18
Hello, Tim here with my detox diet plan update!
This is Day 18, and I am still on track, doing quite well. I lost .5 of a kilogram since yesterday, which is about 1.1 pound. So, overall my weight loss is 9.5 kilograms, which is 21 pounds. And that is in 17 days, because today is the start of the 18th day as I am filming this.
I have to say vegetable drinks: I am starting to get into those a lot more now. I am finding that I think I need to do that. I think what has happened is that I have had a bit of a slow down in my weight loss in the last probably two or three days. I think that is caused by having too much fruit and not enough vegetables. So if you are on this juice fast, juice diet, I think you need to have more of a component of vegetables.
So, yes, I have taken the plunge everybody, you will be pleased to know, and I am using celery! I actually used celery this morning in my drink. I am using a lot more spinach. I am using broccoli as well. But this morning I just had spinach and celery with my fruit drink. And I am cutting down on fruits like watermelon and I am actually going more to grapefruit, which I know is really good for you. Also lemon, I am using more lemon, and I am also using lime. So all of those alkalis - the body - and they are actually quite good forou. So I am using more of those.
I am still using apples and pears, but to a lesser degree.
So I think by, what I've done, I actually did that yesterday, I cut down dramatically on the amount of fruit, and I don't think it is a surprise that I lost half a kilo. So it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. If I lose the same amount of weight, I will know that I am on to something here.
So, I am getting used to the vegetable drink. It's hard to get used to for me because I like the sweetness of the fruit. But I am thinking that it is more important to do that, and obviously if it is going to to help me lose weight, it would be silly of me not to do it.
I have to say that the drink that I had this morning - which was grapefruit, lemon, celery as I said, spinach, and I had a few strawberries in there as well, and I am just trying to think what else was in there as well, apple and pear - was quite nice! And what I am also doing with that, I am also putting some ice in there after I have blended it and drinking it like that, so that it is really cold. And I am finding that is quite nice. And I have to say that the taste was quite good.
So I will keep you up-to-date. If I come up with a vegetable juice recipe that I think really works, I will certainly let you know. I am also using carrot because I am aware that carrot juice benefits are pretty well undisputed and they are a really great source of healthiness for you. So you should be using carrots. I am also using those, but not in my breakfast meal.
So, other than that, I have not got a lot else to report. I am still going well. Weight is still coming off which is making me feel fantastic. I can hardly believe that I have lost 9.5 kg, which is 21 pounds. It is just amazing, and it makes me quite happy, and I am looking forward to losing more.
So this is going to be an interesting test tomorrow to see how much weight I have lost, now that I am focusing more on vegetables. So I look forward to presenting that update to you tomorrow.

Juice Fasting Plan Update - Day 19
Hi,
Tim here, with my juice fasting plan update for Day 19.
Everything is still going on track, going well. I have lost .4 kg since last time, since yesterday, which is just under one pound. So that brings me to a total of 9.9 kg, or just under 22 pounds total amount that I have lost since I started the juice fast.
So I am still actually working away, and I am still on the juice fast. I am actually having a more vegetables. I talked about that more yesterday, the fact that I think to accelerate the weight loss I think you need to have an increase in vegetables. And I am certainly trying to do that. In each meal I am trying to have a lot more vegetable. When I say each meal, I mean each drink.
Basically spinach and celery are the two major ones that I am having. And I am also having good fruits that are really good for you, grapefruit, lime, and lemon. They are really, really quite good for your body because they aren't acidic. They are the opposite to what your body is, because your body is obviously very acidic. So by giving yourself these types of fruits, they are really good to counter that, to really make you feel great and fantastic. And it's actually red grapefruit that I have researched, that is actually better.
Sorry about that, the computer actually crashed in the middle of a sentence. So I had to restart this, and patch the two videos together.
Juicing benefits are still really kicking in. I am finding this is a really easy diet plan to stick to, quite frankly. Like I said before, the three fruits, grapefruit, lemon, and the limes are really good for your body. They are alkaline type of fruit, as opposed to acidic fruit like an apple is a more acidic. Your body is actually naturally acidic so the fact that you are putting in stuff like grapefruit lemon and lime which are really good from an alkaline point of view, that really helps as well. So I am trying to make sure I have got a steady amount of that going into my body as well. So it's just making me feel fantastic basically.
Other than that there is not a lot else to report. I am nearly at the 10 kilo mark – 9.9 kg of total weight loss - which I am very happy about. And I am looking forward to tomorrow to clock over to the double figures so to speak, in terms of kilograms.
And I am well on track for my 56 days. So I have still got no real thoughts to stop early. Occasionally I still have those thoughts where I think it would be nice to eat something, but look they are very fleeting thoughts. And the biggest thing is I just feel completely in control of those thoughts. In the past I often felt that with my addiction to foods it wasn't something that I could control. It was something that I felt I had to eat now, or I had to eat the wrong thing, or I felt compelled to eat unhealthy. These days I can get a brief smell of something and think that would be – you know, it just brings back the old memories. The initial thought is, yes, that would be nice, but then I start kicking in with the reality of, Well, no, it's not nice. It's not good for you. Why would you want to go off this? And I've got the willpower, if that is what the word is, to control that. And I think that's all got to do with the nutrition that is going into my body. It is is just so much better than it has ever had in my whole life.
My poor body, I have really abused it for 30 years I have been overweight! And I can feel, literally, when I am drinking these juices, all the goodness coming back into my body. And I think my body is starting to say well, maybe you are serious about this. And it is starting to really be getting to the stage where it's being healed, which is fantastic. And obviously the weight is coming off.
So, anyway. Everything is going well. I am going to keep on to this. And I will see you tomorrow with another update for day 20.

Hi, Tim here with my Day 20 update.
My fat burning diet is still going well.
I actually went to a Boost juice bar. I'm not sure whether you have got those over in the US, but in Australia they are pretty big. I think you may have something similar. It is basically a chain juice bar. They make very healthy juice shakes.
Now, they made one for me today and I actually carefully asked what the ingredients were. They actually had one called Two and Five, which was Apple, Oranges, Beetroot, Carrot, and Celery and also some ice. Now, I quite liked that. I had that and that was my lunch juice.
Now, interesting enough it was a juice bar but they had the option for a smoothie. But of course a smoothie isn't a juice fast so I didn't take that. I really am getting used to the juice fasting benefits and don't want to try anything that could possibly be outside the scope of that. They also had something, I wrote it down, a Vita Booster. I asked them not to put that in. So if you are thinking of going to Boost or a juice bar, something of that nature, be sure to tell them not to add the extra, or at least find out what is in it.
I believe that Vita Boost has got your daily essential minerals and so forth, minerals and other healthy things that you actually need, but because you are getting those in their vegetables and fruits, I was reluctant to basically try anything that I didn't know where it had come from: whether it was an all natural thing they're making, whether it was a synthetic thing that has been made by humans as most of our vitamins are... so I decided against it, but it was quite nice.
The point was, if you are stuck somewhere, like I was, in a food bar and I needed to have something, I went and got a Boost juice instead of potentially, even though it would not have happened in my case, potentially risking eating something else.
Now, the other thing I wanted to report is, if you have been following along at home since early in my videos, I told you that I had a Nintendo Wii, and was using a Nintendo Wii Fitness Plus software package. Now the Nintendo Wii is a games console. Essentially it has got a so called balancing board, which doubles as a scale. So every day I use that particular software package. It is virtually like a game almost in some of the exercises. You can do yoga, and it works out how quick you are, how good your balance is and so forth. But weighing is the primary thing that I use that for because I do my exercise outside of the Nintendo. I go outside and go for a walk.
Anyway every day I have been plotting my weight loss. So every day when I have been telling you how much I have lost I have been plotting that with the Nintendo. And one of the things that you can do with it is you can set yourself a goal, and every day it will tell you how close you are to getting your goal of losing weight.
So when I started the juice fast way back 20 days ago, I set myself a challenge for 10 kg to be lost in four weeks. The Wii Fit actually said that is too high, that is too fast. I think it said 1.4 kg every two weeks. Now, 1.4 kg is very roughly, close to 3 pounds. So what the Wii is saying is healthy weight loss is about three pounds per fortnight, or six pounds a month roughly, or 1.4 kg.
Anyway I got to that goal and I filmed the process and I will show you shortly – actually I will show you that now and then come back and talk about it.

The Wii shows Tim's BMI history saying: "That's incredible! You've reached your goal earlier than your deadline."
The Wii then says "You were so quick in reaching your goal that I am getting a bit worried about your health. Try to focus on taking care of your health in the long term, instead of pushing yourself too much to reach short-term goals."
Tim clicks through and shows a chart of the dropping weight loss in the last 20 days. The start date was 12 July, when the weight was 111.4 kg, 246 pounds.
Tim then traces the weight down and today the Wii shows that he is 101.2 kg, which is 224 pounds.

Interesting wasn't it? Quite interesting how the software package works.
And I was really quite surprised when it said basically "is there something wrong with you? I'm a bit worried about it!"
Hello! I am using the healthiest method pretty well known to man almost, fruit and vegetables, and I have lost a great amount of weight, 10.2 kg and yet the Nintendo Wii is not happy! It's worried that I have lost too much weight! So I thought that was interesting and thought I would share that with you today.
Other than that I haven't got too much else to talk about.
I have done a little bit more research on the lemon cleansing diet, which I have talked about this previous videos. I don't think there is much need for me to go on that because basically I am losing weight and I think I am quite healthy on the juice and vegetables that I am actually taking in.
And also an apple juice recipe. I am still trying to find the best one. As I have talked about before apple really does mix with almost anything. In my experience, it is one of the few things that does. My primary diet now has got these ingredients where I can mix them together: lemon, lime, grapefruit and apple. They are four things that I am trying to do, even though there is a bit of a contrast there with taste. I am thinking that those foods, those fruits rather, the juice is very, very healthy and that is the main reason that I am taking them.
But overall everything is on track, and I look forward to day 21 tomorrow for an update.

Day 21 - Vegetable Cleanse Can Be Damn Expensive
Hi, Tim here with my Day 21 Update.
Yes, can you believe it! I have been doing this for nearly three weeks. By the end of today I will have been on this juice fast for three weeks, and I am still going strong.
0.4 kg weight loss since last time, which is just under a pound, about .9 of a pound. Overall that is 10.6 kilograms, or 23.5 pounds, or thereabouts, that I have lost since I started.
So everything is on track. Still feeling fantastic. The vegetable cleanse is doing quite well. And I am still experimenting, trying to find the healthiest juices. Overall I think I'm succeeding. I'm actually getting into celery now. And this is something that I got a comment on a video from someone who's just starting out, I believe, and having trouble finding juices they like. What I can say there is hang in, hang in there, because it actually gets a lot easier. What I'm finding is some of the juices that I'm sure when I first started this juice fast that I would not have liked, I am getting used to.
For example, take this morning's juice, which some people might go: er! That sounds horrible! Celery, grapefruit, lemon, lime, had some apple, had some pear as well. And I am just trying to think what else there was. But the celery was really put, probably quite prominent, I used quite a bit of celery, perhaps 20% of the drink, maybe 25% (actually closer to 50%) was celery alone.
So at lunch time - it's coming up about quarter past 11 here, so in a few hours I'll have something, another juice - I will have celery again. I will probably have some spinach this time, and maybe some broccoli as well. So my drink will be like fully green. It will be a proper mean green juice. And more and more vegetables. My lunch and dinner juices are green now.
So, my point to all this is it's possible, if you hang in there, even though the taste might be off putting to you, you will actually get used to it, and your body seems to start liking it. And I'm finding that I can't really find a juice, no matter how I mix the juice at this stage, that I actually don't like. There are some that I like more than others, sure. And, yes, given a choice, I probably would go back and have fruits only, fruit juices only. But the reality is, and I've written this down actually...
About 4 or 5 days ago I talked about how I thought I might be having too much in the way of fruit juice and not enough vegetables. Well, in the last 4 days I have lost .5 kg, .4 kg, .3 kg, and .4kg again. That's 1.6 kg in 4 days (3.5 pounds).
Contrast that to a few days before, and I was like .1 kg and then .2 kg and then .1 kg again. So in other words, just by changing my juices to have more vegetables I am losing more weight. And I'm sure if I took it to the next level, and I had 70% or 80% vegetables that probably the weight loss would increase again as well. And it's my goal to do just that.
Because obviously the amount of sugar in fruits is a real issue to your body. If you have too much in the way of sugar, that can have a detrimental effect to your body overall, and of course a detrimental effect to the weight loss.
I think that's all. I think that's all I wanted to talk to you about today.
Cheap healthy recipes. When I say "cheap" I'm finding, and I'm sure other people out there are finding this, fruit and vegetables are very expensive. It's actually a lot more, I'm finding, to continue on with this type of eating (drinking I should say, because I'm not actually eating, I'm on a fast) but using just purely fruit and vegetables I'm finding it's actually costing more than it would have been if I had to stuck to purely processed, man-made foods.
Interesting isn't it, how backwards our society is, that to eat healthy costs more than to eat unhealthy. So literally the foods that are killing us, the processed foods, you know, with the very unhealthy trans fats and all the other sorts of man made ingredients, and of course the massive amount of sugar they add pretty well to anything they can, which is actually documented that it can kill you, by the processes of making you gain weight, which obviously in itself is a real negative for your body, but just in terms of what that sugar and so forth does to your body, but yes that's cheaper to survive on.
I saw a documentary, I think it was called Food Incorporated. Very good, if you have not seen that, do a Google for it. I think there is a preview for it on YouTube which you can find. And there was a person on there who was talking about how to feed a family of four it is cheaper for her to go through McDonald's, or that type of fast food type place to buy a burger to feed them than it would be for fruit and vegetables.
I find that amazing, that we have got our standards just so backwards when it comes to that. We need to do it the other way so that healthier is cheaper. One of the things that I am looking to do is set up an organic garden and grow my own vegetables. And this is probably where my partner Louise will kick in, because she is a much better gardener than me. But that is literally something that we are looking to do now, is set up a garden and start growing our own fruits and vegetables, so that we don't have to be part of this problem.
Obviously it is going to take some time to grow them, but once you have grown them, of course, your only cost is the cost of maintaining them, and giving them some water and love every day, which is pretty simple.
So that is the plan, obviously organic foods, organic fruits and vegetables, are the way to go.
But yes, just interesting, that observation of mine that it is a lot cheaper to eat unhealthy. It seems to be very bizarre to me. What do you think? Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you, as always.

As I said everything is going quite well, and I am looking forward to Day 22 tomorrow, with yet another update.
And for those of you who are struggling with the taste, hang in there, it does get better. It gets to the stage now where I am finding I don't really care what it tastes like, I am quite happy to drink it. I feel neutral towards it. It's something I don't think that is disgusting or anything like that, whereas if I had tried a large component of vegetable juice early on I probably would have thought that it all tasted very nasty.
You know, and thinking about it further, is there a problem with you starting off having a bit too much juice, fruit juice? You know, going through a sweeter side first, and then slowly moving into it.
I don't think there's a problem. If you set yourself a goal to lose a certain amount of weight, in a certain period of time, if you are going to start off doing more fruit juices than vegetables, maybe you just need to adjust your goal a little bit to say, OK, I'm probably not quite going to lose quite as much weight initially because I am having more of this fruit, but set yourself a plan like maybe you start off on the third 70% / 30% mix or 80% / 20% - so 80% fruit juice and 20% vegetables. And try and change it so that over time you are getting to 50% / 50%.
I mean, I probably now am just getting to the stage where I am 50% / 50%. I am trying to change that now and eventually I want to go to a 70% / 30% split to vegetables, so that the majority of my juice is going to be vegetables. So I am moving towards that all the time.
It's an ongoing thing, and that's maybe something you need to think of. Just the fact, even if you are a fruit only fruit juice fast, it is still going to be a lot better for you than the processed foods you have been eating in the past. Keep that in mind. Don't beat yourself up. Don't be too upset with yourself if you can't stick to all the vegetables initially. Just remember it is a journey, and it's starting today and each day you get through this process things get a little bit easier. And you get a little bit more in control, and you start feeling happy with yourself, because you are succeeding.
Think about it as a life plan. So this is like a big reset. You are resetting your body, much as if you had turned your computer on and off. You are restarting your state almost from scratch, almost. You are fixing problems that have been caused over a period of time with the bad foods you have been ingesting. And this is the part where you say you actually start. So this is day one. This is the start. We are actually starting this process. So don't think you need to be where I'm at, at Day 21, because I've had to go through this period for three weeks.
Anyway, I think I am rambling, but I hope you get the point there: don't beat yourself up, keep at it, day by day it will get better, and the weight will start falling off, and you will be feeling healthier every single day. Every single ml for that matter that you are able to stick to the juice fast you are going to be helping your body. Keep that in mind. It's a magical thing and not something that you should be thinking that is not really doing much help, because it absolutely is really changing your life.

Hi, Tim here with my Day 22 juice fasting update.
Things are still going quite well, I lost another 0.4 kilograms, same as yesterday, which is nearly 1 pound. Overall I have now lost 11 kg, which is about 24.25 pounds so far.
So, feeling good. Today marks the third week, so I have actually completed now three complete weeks, 21 days of the juice fast. And I am still feeling fantastic, I have to say. The energy levels are still rising, I am feeling in control, I am not suffering from addictions or anything of that nature anymore, you know, I am not thinking I need to eat bad foods, and I am getting quite used to it. And I am gradually adding more vegetables. That's really the key that I'm finding now to this weight loss. It's getting a bit more stable, the amount I'm losing every day. I am adding vegetables, adding them to all my juices now, certainly more in the lunch –
... [ the phone rings ] ...
And don't you don't just love that, in the middle of a recording, phone goes off. So sorry about that interruption but rather than start again, I've decided to continue on.
What I am finding is that the best detox juices are probably vegetable based. Celery really seems to be quite good. It's a great way to help you lose weight and of course is quite minimal on calories as well. Not that I suggest that you really need to be worrying too much about calories but I think calories in my opinion is more of a problem or more something to worry about if you're eating "normal food". Because we're just eating fruit and vegetables, fresh, drinking the juice of that, I should say, it is very, very healthy. I think the calorie issue just goes away, unless you start trying to use 20 apples and then maybe you've got a problem. You're having too much juice, and potentially the calories might be an issue there.
Overall I am thinking that celery is quite good, spinach is quite good, but also for the fruit side grapefruit is also quite good for you, lemon,and lime. So I am trying to incorporate grapefruit, lemon, and lime, salary, and spinach, as well as carrot,in pretty well almost all my drinks. And I am finding that is helping me a lot.
The other thing I might want to point out, to people out there which, I read in the comments, have been having issues with taste, let me say particularly once you get through this process and have been on this process for maybe a week or so forth, I am finding that the taste is irrelevant. Sometimes I have a taste, and at first taste I think, well, it doesn't taste that nice. But then all subsequent tastes seem to be okay. So if you're trying to do that, thinking it is horrible, only having a sip, and then throwing it away, don't do that. Give yourself time to have two or three sips, and in my case, and I am assuming that it might be similar for you, it tends to get nicer, and it is not so much of a problem.
So, liquid diet recipe, really, my juice recipes are my staple fruit and vegetables, spinach, celery, grapefruit, lemon, and lime. Now, I am adding some apple. Apple is a sweetener as well, if you want to get rid of a taste that is horrible.
And that really is the main ones that I am using. Sometimes I am using pear. In the morning I will often put in four strawberries. They have got good, well they are very healthy for you as well, basically. But too many of those are obviously quite high in sugar so I only ever have some in the morning. I don't want to go overboard on those.
But they are really the staples that I'm using. I haven't really got into beets yet. I think I mentioned - well, I did mention the other day that I went to the Boost juice bar and I got beets in theirs (beetroot, for you Aussie guys out there, people I should say), and that was quite nice, but I have not actually got to the stage of incorporating that into my regular drinks. That's another thing I'm going to look at doing.
Oh, the other thing I also add is carrot. I do add carrots to many of my drinks, and I find that is quite nice. And the taste – carrot, even though it is a vegetable, is surprisingly sweet. So keep that in mind if you are finding something is too bitter, carrot juice would help sweeten it.
Okay, I think that is about all I wanted to say today. Everything is going on track, and still going well.

Day 23 - The Benefits of Celery Are Amazing
Hi all, Tim here, with my Day 23 update.
My juice fast, for those of you are just coming to this video the first time, I have just been doing this for now 23 days, and every day I have put a video up on YouTube, letting you know how much weight I have lost, how I am feeling, and what I have learnt along the way.
So I have lost another .2 of a kilo, which is around about half a pound. It is around about half a pound, so over all I have now lost 11.2 kg, which is about 24 3/4 pounds and nearly 25 pounds in 22 days because this is the start of Day 23.
So, you can, things are still going well.I have still got no real feelings that I need to eat badly. I'm not finding it hard more and more, probably in the last week or so, I have been putting more vegetables in.
I wanted to talk today about the benefits of celery, because celery was something that I decided I did not want to take advantage of a long time, because I just did not like the taste. But let me tell you now that celery is something that you definitely should be putting in your juice fast, every day, if you can, if you can bear the taste. And I will give you some tips towards the end of the video as to how to get over the taste, even though you are not a celery lover.
Firstly, celery, believe it or not, is high in vitamin C. It also has got stuff in there to lower blood pressure, fantastic, lower cholesterol, and there's even something in there, in what it's composed of, has been shown to prevent cancer. That's pretty major isn't it!
So once I figured out some of the things that celery had, I felt, look I have to be juicing a lot of this stuff, because it's obviously going to help me. Before I started on Day One, I did have problems. My cholesterol was high. It was just on the range where it was going to a problem. The doctor said it wasn't abnormally high, but having a nurse in the family, the doctors, what they say is high, and what is high, can be two different things. The fact is it was above normal, which was potentially a cause of concern. So the fact now that I can be reducing this stuff by drinking celery juice is absolutely amazing to me. And that is one of the reasons that I am now starting to you.
And you use that as a reason that the the line the is saying to you you should be in leading celery as one of your ingredients in your juices every day.
And what I am doing is I am actually having celery in every one of my juices. Because what I am doing is breakfast, lunch, dinner and I am having a juice for each time, around about that time when people norBmally eat. Because I don't want to be totally antisocial. Now the family still sit down and eat I'm not going to hold myself away from that. So I am actually getting involved in that and being there as opposed to thinking, Oh well, they are eating, I'd better not join them in case I get urges to eat, or anything like that.
So I am quite happy for people to be sitting there, and they can be eating whatever and I feel nothing. And I can't believe that! I can't believe that I can get a smell of the taste of chocolate, if someone is eating chocolate next to me, and I have just got no motivation, no urges, no impulses to eat that! That is all because of the juices. Iit can't be anything else because I have tried to get away from that type of food for about 30 years of my adult life, unsuccessfully.
The only thing I have changed, recently, is the juice. I have changed to a juice fast for the last 22 full days and my body has started to heal itself.
Now I am looking forward to having a chat with my doctor. I was going to do this week, but now I'm going to go next week, and I'm going to get my blood pressure tested again, and my cholesterol. And I am not going to be at all surprised if we find that both of those have gone down to really "normal" levels.
And it's going to really pump me up to know that it is nothing else. I'm taking no medications. Just looking after my body by looking at the nutrients that are going into it, I can change my life. So I'm going to report back to you next week on that, and let you know what the doctor's findings are, and how overall I am tracking.
What else, yes, basically, the whole process is juicing vegetables. That's what it is all about. Obviously fruits are part of the process as well, but I'm not actually having anywhere near as much fruit as what I was before.
A tip for someone out there, and I have seen some people around the place coming back and saying they're having troubles. They're not losing weight with juices, and why aren't they losing the weight on their juice fast. Check out the fruit content. Chances are you could be having too much fruit, which has got a lot of fructose in it, which although it is natural, it is usually a bad thing to have too much of that. You want to keep your sugar impact to a minimum. And fructose is basically nature's sugar, and too much of that can actually stop your weight loss, and can actually be a negative thing as well, because your body can't refuel with too much fructose. Unlike a lot of other things that your body can break down, there's really only a certain area of your body that can deal with fructose, so if you have too much there's an overload, and your body doesn't know what to do, and chances are that it will actually end up getting stored somewhere. Because your body has to deal with it somehow. That's how you can retain weight. So if you're having too much fructose your body starts storing the fructose as sugar, because it doesn't know how else to deal with it. It can't break it down as quickly as it can other things. And you're actually in trouble.
So if you are looking to lose weight, and maybe you're trying the juice fast, try to cut down on the amount of fruit.
Just to give you a rough idea, I'm still having the juice of probably 3 apples a day. 1 apple in each one of my juices. In terms of the other fruit, I normally put kiwi fruit in my breakfast (not lunch or dinner). And sometimes I will put a pear in my lunch or dinner one as well. I'm cutting down, other than that.
In the past, for the last 7 - 14 days of my juice fast, I was using a lot more fruit. But I have really cut down on that. And I'm thinking that going back to the vegetables with the low fructose, low amounts of sugars, with all these other benefits, (you know, like I just read out to you, the benefits of celery) is really going to make a difference.
The other thing was grapefruit. Grapefruit, lemon and lime are the three other staples that I am putting in each meal (and they are great to mask celery taste!). Because I know that they can alkaline your body. They have really good alkali. This really helps your body. Because your body, I think I've said to you before in another video, is naturally acidic. So by putting things in like grapefruit, lemon and lime, which are the three big ones, that can really counter that and really help you. So I am recommending that you have those.
In a future video I'll talk to you specifically about what the benefits of the three of them are. I've talked to you about lemon in the past, but I will come back and go through that alkaline side of things, just to make that clear. Because this is something that can be of benefit to you while you're doing this juice fast as well.
So I will talk about that in a future video, hopefully tomorrow if I can get my act together and I'm not coughing all the time!
